A battered box shoved into the backroom. A dusty suitcase hidden under the bed. Each contains the photographic obsessions of Singaporean shutterbugs who captured our history from the 1960s through the 1980s. As a nod to Singapore’s bicentennial commemoration this year, On The Red Dot dives into the archives of a local photographer to uncover an aspect of Singapore’s social history on the cusp of fading from living memory. Singapore Snapshots 4 - Chef Jeremy Nguee dives into Singapore’s food stories from the 1970s when he follows a trail of rare candid snapshots by photographer Lim Kwong Ling. He battles disappointment and surprise as he tries his hand at traditional soybean brewing, warbles the song of a child hawker, and braves crocodiles for a muddy harvest.
