Singapura fell, and from all accounts, it was a dramatic end. One story spoke of the entry of Parameswara, a rebellious Palembang prince, who came to seek refuge after a failed revolt. Within days, he turned on his host and usurped the Singapura throne. His rule was short as there was a quick reprisal from the north to punish him for his crime. Another records the unjust punishment meted out by Iskandar Shah, who listened to rumours, and humiliated his concubine in the marketplace. Her father, the chief minister, was enraged and in revenge, opened the city gates for the Majapahit enemies to overrun the city.
